Biography - Andy Owen-Smith
Cheltenham based artist Andy Owen-Smith studied painting at Cheltenham School of Art & Design graduating in 1979 with a degree in Fine Art & Art History.

Having followed a career in finance he now paints full-time in his studio in Cheltenham.
In 2019 he founded Sixteen Gallery in Montpellier Cheltenham. A rent-able exhibition space for both established and emerging artists where artists can show their work in a gallery setting.

Working primarily in oils, his most recent work captures slices of everyday life, using colour and form to create atmosphere, movement, and tension.
His instinctive brush strokes, spontaneity and intuitive mark making create a unique narrative in each piece of work.

His next exhibition, in 2025, is based on back stage theatre, reflecting on the world that we now live in that has been staged by social algorithms and which dictate how we view the digital world around us.
